The Game |

The game is dangerous. It’s like hunting. That’s a crude simile, but it fits. The rules are clear. Just do it. Go for it. Don’t think, just act. Dress to impress. Show off what you’ve got! The goal is all about finding someone. Not just any person. The right person. Mr. Right. Ms. Right. How many times you try is up to you. Time is of the essence. It’s risky. It hurts to lose. It’s painful. Sometimes you go home alone. Sometimes you don’t.
But in either case, every single time you try, you are sinning, and every single time you do it, your heart becomes harder and harder. That’s unfair, someone says. Why should it be a sin to date when the main purpose is to find the perfect match? What’s so sinful about going out with someone? And if it feels right, what’s wrong with touching that person? What’s so harmful about a simple kiss? We intend to get married in the future.
When we look around us, it sometimes feels like Muslims lead the most boring lives. We are forbidden from drinking, gambling, premarital relations, and so on. What are we supposed to do for fun? If dating is so harmful, how come all the other youth in the world have girlfriends and boyfriends? Some of them even get married to the person they have been dating, so isn’t that good? Isn’t it better to know, really well, the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with? I’m not going to marry a stranger, so isn’t it my right to date and "try out" what intimacy is going to be like with the person I am going to marry?

syahadah sudah dilafazkan
solat setiap hari didirikan
puasa wajib tidak ditinggalkan
hijab yang menutup rambut, sudah disarungkan
al-quran 30 juz telah dialunkan
al-quran, paling kurang ayat2 lazim, sudah dihafali
tazkirah a.k.a ceramah seringkali didengari
ilmu Allah paling kurang sedikit sudah di selidiki
tetapi.
hati masih jauh dari Dia
hati masih mendambakan cinta makhlukNya melebihi Dia
hati masih mengharap kepada selain Dia
tangan masih menyentuh lelaki ajnabi
kaki masih melangkah menghampiri zina
mata masih belum menundukkan pandangan
mulut masih mengucap lagha
adakah…
segumpal darah itu sudah….

The Veil
Words and melody: D.Wharnsby (with thanks to Zahra Duran)

They say, “Oh poor girl you are so beautiful you know
it’s a shame that you cover up your beauty so.”
She just smiles and graciously responds reassuringly,
“This beauty that I have is just a simple part of me.
This body that I have, no stranger has a right to see.
These long clothes and this shawl I wear, ensure my modesty.
Faith is far less fickle than fashion. Wouldn’t you agree?”
This hijab, this mark of piety,
is an act of faith, a symbol, for all the world to see.
A simple cloth, to preserve her dignity.
So lift the veil from your heart to see the heart of purity. They tell her, “Girl don’t you know this is the west and you are free?
You don’t need to be oppressed, ashamed of your femininity.”
She just shakes her head and she speaks so assuredly,
“See the billboards and the magazines that line the check-out isles,
with their phony painted faces and their air-brushed smiles?
Well their sheer clothes and low cut gowns they are really not for me.
You call it freedom, I call it anarchy.”
This hijab, this mark of piety,
is an act of faith, a symbol, for all the world to see.
A simple cloth, to protect her dignity.
So lift the veil from your heart to see the heart of purity. They say, “Sister of belief you are so strong,
your scarf it is a flag of this faith where you belong.”
She just drops here gaze then she smiles with humility,
“I did not wear this shawl at all less than one year ago.
I’ve been judged, misjudged and mis-understood
by those who do not know that,
faith cannot be measured by the garments that we sew.
Beauty, faith and women: objects reduced to a fashion show.”
This hijab, this mark of piety,
is an act of faith, a symbol, for all the world to see.
A simple cloth, to protect her dignity.
So lift the veil from your heart to see the heart of purityWhen we lift the veils from our hearts and seek the heart of purity?

tika akal mula tersentak
baru aku insafi kejadian diri,
baru aku teringat janji pada Dia
“inna solati wa nusuki wa mahyaya wa ma maati, lillahi rabbil ‘alamiin…”
tika ini,
Terasa berat beban yg di pikul
Sedangkan ilmu belum setimba,
Sedangkan amal belum secangkir,
Sedangkan ketabahan belum secalit,
Mampukah aku?
ultimate happiness…
October 4th, 2005 by izzarahmi" So on the Day none will punish as He will punish,
And none will bind (the wicked, disbelievers and polytheists) as He will bind…
(It will be said to the pious believers of Islamic Monotheism) O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction!
Come back to your Lord well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing (unto Him)!
Enter you then among My (honoured) slaves,
And enter you My Paradise!"
Al-fajr, 89: 25-30
